California Gov. Jerry Brown recently signed AB 523, the Equity in Clean Energy Investments Act, was authored by Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino). The bill has been a priority of Reyes and of its co-sponsors, the Women’s Policy Institute and Solutions Project grantee California Environmental Justice Alliance (CEJA).
The bill would dedicate at least 25 percent of available Electric Program Investment Charge (EPIC) funds for clean energy projects in disadvantaged communities, and an additional 10 percent in low-income households.
“AB 523 is a critical step in ensuring a clean energy future for all communities,” said Reyes, whose district includes Fontana and Bloomington.
