Last month, Gloria Walton, CEO and President of The Solutions Project, was honored as a 2024 John P. McNulty Prize winner.

The latest FreeThink film captures The Solutions Project’s mission, highlights our incredible grantee partners, and follows Gloria Walton’s inspiring journey into organizing. Across the U.S. and beyond, movement builders and organizers are harnessing grassroots power to create solutions that uplift their communities and inspire broader change.

The climate crisis impacts frontline communities first and worst. In the U.S., over three million people are displaced by climate disasters annually, with the majority being from communities of color.

At The Solutions Project, we believe that those most affected by the climate crisis are the ones innovating the boldest and most effective solutions. We proudly celebrate our grantee partners’ climate solutions and policy victories, which have benefited over 100 million people.

During the Resnick Aspen Action Forum, Gloria Walton shared her bold vision of channeling resources to frontline communities, emphasizing that these communities know what’s best for their needs and are advancing climate solutions that benefit everyone.

The answer to the climate crisis is right in front of us and it starts with community-led climate solutions. We all know that the climate crisis affects all of us but it does not affect us all in the same way.

Black, Indigenous and other communities of color disproportionately live at the doorsteps of polluting industries and suffer inequities in their day-to-day health, wealth, and safety because of the legacy of structural racism and income inequality. Exacerbated by the climate crisis, they live on the frontlines and are organizing and building power to create transformational solutions right now, across the country and around the world.
