Our hearts are heavy with grief as we witness the continued, unprovoked violence against communities. The Solutions Project stands in unwavering solidarity with Minnesotans, the grassroots organizations, and communities who are fighting for the rights and safety of all people. We grieve with the families who have been impacted by the ICE raids and the tragic deaths of innocent civilians. These events follow a long, painful history of injustice in Minnesota. The weight of loss by state sanctioned violence is devastating, turning daily life into a struggle for survival and emphasizing the harm caused by policies rooted in fear and division.

In Minnesota and across the country, communities are organizing, taking action, and exercising collective power. In the face of attacks to our democracy and heightened targeting of immigrant communities, tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets to demand accountability, justice, and safety for all.

We believe that the fights for climate action, labor and immigrant rights, racial justice, and community well-being are intrinsically connected. The same systems of extraction and exploitation that escalate the climate crisis are allowing people to be targeted because of their race, skin, color, and immigration status, and excusing the violence being perpetrated against our communities.

Our grantee partners are already experiencing the negative impacts of increased ICE presence in their communities. We acknowledge the invisible labor of grassroots organizations showing up for families and children who are afraid to go to school, work, or the grocery store. We will support our grassroots grantee partners in their right to deliver essential services, organize, and advocate for justice safely, without fear of violence or retaliation.

The Solutions Project will continue to support, resource, and amplify communities most impacted by the interlocking systems of oppression and displaced by climate change and disasters. We also stand alongside communities welcoming those migrating across borders, whether for climate, political, or economic reasons. Local and frontline communities are the soul of our country. They make the climate movement richer and stronger, driving climate solutions, advancing innovation, and building resilience and power for all.

We will not bow to false narratives or fear. Instead, we join with local communities who are creating a more vibrant, equitable, and resilient future. At a time when fundamental rights and freedoms are being attacked, let’s fight together for a future rooted in solidarity, mutuality, collective power, and care.
